SOLAR FORTUN Winery

SOLAR FORTUN Winery is located up in the hills of Guadalupe Valley – Solar describes a plot of land in Spanish and Fortun is the area of the Valley. Javier is brother of Santiago who is the winemaker. This is a family affair and they presently produce approximately 3,500 cases but plan to ramp up to 5000 cases, which is the total capacity of the vineyard. They produce only Estate wines, so they don’t buy their grapes from other vineyards and produce primarily single varietals. All French clones from Napa. Expect a long one-way dirt road to get there and they have 3 German Shepherds at the entrance. Beautiful covered setting outside with chairs, as well as trees & patio. They are presently only open on weekends for tastings & have a small kitchen. Wines cost $16 to $70.

Wines: They produce a Mouvedre Rose, as well as seven reds. Their youngest red is called “Bale Bale” (Berry Berry in English) 100% Mouvedre, 100% Petite Verdot, the O Positive which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah, and represents the blood type of the family for all the blood, sweat & tears that go into making wine. Another wine is a blend of the 4 varietals found on their property (Cab, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Mouvedre) They also produce a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of their wines are aged in French & American oak.

Contact me directly if you would like to purchase their wines.

Anyone who has met her can tell she has a passion for wine and for creating a unique and fun experience to share wine and food.
