Dawn Solomon grew up in the midwest but moved just south of Napa in the mid 1990s to take a job as the Investment Officer for the City of Oakland. Being new to California, she wanted to explore and was just starting to learn about the world of wine. Napa was within 30 minutes of her home and she started making regular weekend trips up to the Valley. At the time she realized the need for a guidebook and proceeded to write & publish a book on the Wine Tasting Experience in Napa Valley in 2000. The original idea was to do a series of the different wine regions, ie Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Anderson Valley, etc. but fate took her away to Cabo San Lucas where she met & married her husband. They bought the Jamestown Hotel and Restaurant in 2005 in Northern California and started organizing wine events with the winemakers from the neighboring Amador County. In 2007 they returned to Cabo, renovated the restaurant and added a wine cellar. October 2007 marked the 1st Wine Pairing event at the Restaurant held in Cabo and it was a success! Dawn continued to organize and host monthly food & wine pairing events for the next 10 years. She has put together private pairings for as little as 10 people and large events with over 60 people. Once her & her husband split, she started organizing and hosting events in different restaurants around Cabo that satisfied her high standards for food quality and service. She also introduced the concept of a progressive dinner where people could experience 3 Cabo restaurants in a single night, with the first one offering an appetizer, the 2nd one an entree and the 3rd a dessert, all paired with wines from the menu and walking distance from each other. This turned out to be a great way for visitors and locals alike to experience new/old restaurants. By 2019 she really wanted to feature wines from Mexico and Valle de Guadalupe, so she started working with suppliers and winemakers alike to showcase their wines. In the process she organized a monthly Wine Club which chooses wines from the Valley to sample. She prefers to focus on more of the boutique and family owned wineries to help promote them. Anyone who has met her can tell she has a passion for wine and for creating a unique and fun experience to share wine and food.
